Ambulatory Surgical Center
ASC vs Hospital Setting
Often, when people think of having plastic surgery, they assume that they must have their procedure performed in a hospital. They may not even consider the possibility of having their surgery at an ambulatory surgical center, (ASC). In some instances, if they have heard of ASC’s, they might think that it is not as safe a choice as a hospital. When it comes to plastic surgery procedures such as breast augmentation, facelifts, tummy tucks, etc., this couldn’t be further from the truth. An ambulatory surgery center is a facility where surgical procedures are performed, and typically those that do not require an overnight stay. Not all patients are suitable for procedures in an ASC, and hospitals are more appropriate for complicated, risky cases as well as procedures that require greater observation and recovery times. Patient selection is essential to ensure the appropriate setting is chosen for your surgical procedures. Our surgeons, anesthesia team and clinical staff work together to determine the safest setting for your surgery.
