Scar Revision
Scar revision is performed to reduce the appearance of scars caused by injury or previous surgery.
Scars, are by definition permanent; but surgical excision, dermabrasion, and lasers can narrow, fade and otherwise reduce the appearance of severe or unattractive scarring. The size, depth, and location of the scar help determine the most suitable treatment plan. Surgical treatments of larger scars or multiple little scars in one area (like acne scarring) may be staged. After several weeks of healing the area may be treated with a resurfacing procedure like dermabrasion or fractionated laser to help enhance the outcome.
