Changing Children's Lives
These missions are performed in developing countries including Vietnam, Guatemala, and Ecuador. Since its inception in 2003, our medical mission teams have gone on 35 mission trips and have performed more than 1,700 surgical procedures. The teams consist of world-class doctors, nurses and volunteers who dedicate their time, knowledge, and passion to help change children's lives.
Help Us Give Smiles is the message of the HUGS Foundation, Inc. Volunteers include doctors, nurses, and anesthesiologists who donate their time, skills, and expertise. The medical team is joined by volunteers for administrative tasks. These volunteers travel to Ecuador, Vietnam, and Guatemala to provide free surgeries for cleft lip, cleft palate, microtia, cleft rhinoplasty, and other congenital facial deformities.
Dr. Sabini serves on the Board of the HUGS Foundation and is the surgical team leader for their Ecuadorian mission. Since 1999, he has made annual trips to Quito with a team of volunteers who treat children with congenital facial deformities, such as microtia and ear reconstruction. During the week trip, Dr. Sabini and a team of US based surgeons, anesthesiologists and surgical staff perform over 40 microtia cases.
